Music training:
4 years classical piano with Mrs. T (age 7-11)
2 summers ‘fake book’ arranging with uncle Victor (age 12-13)
One flunked college composition class
Music discovery:
Started writing songs and lyrics in mid 60s
Began building arrangements in late 60s bouncing tracks on a stereo Revox.
Any instrument or device I could get my hands on to build music: guitars, keyboards, violin, clarinet, Radio Shack MIDI card, Fostex-A8, 808, polymoog and other synths and virtual instruments as they evolved (VSL in gigastudio) and so on. Music was always there in my mind I just had to learn how to instantiate it: writing songs and lyrics, singing, playing instruments, trying to record and produce as best I could.
Studio B: tunes were recorded during the 70s with help from many talented people. With the exception of CedarHouse recordings, I built the rest in my home studio.
Bargain Basement: spans 70s to recent…
To Peaces: First extended orchestration attempt (2003-2004)
Requiem: Written for my dad about a decade ago
CedarHouse: ‘Live’ piano and vocal tunes initially recorded at CedarHouse studio and edited a bit in my studio. (2012 & 2013)
Note: By default, Soundcloud plays only the first 5 songs in a list – please manually scroll the song list a bit to enable all songs in the Bargain Basement and Cedar House pages.
